Death Valley or The Divine Nothing

Jordan Sullivan's new book collects photographs made during repeated visits to California's Death Valley, furthering his interest in preserving the experience of time and space within landscape. Intentionally unbound, the viewing experience is meant to be interactive. The loose pages can be lifted or rearranged, creating diverse relationships between sky and mountain horizon. Eternal or ephemeral, the book can remain as is or the collector can install its pages upon his or her wall.

Jordan Sullivan is a writer and artist living in Los Angeles, California. His photographs, curatorial projects and prose have appeared in publications such as The Paris Review, The New York TimesMagazine, The New Yorker, Italian Vogue, Featureshoot, Dazed Digital, Dossier Journal, Twin Magazine, VICE, Domino, It's Nice That, Juxtapoz, Third Coast, GUP, Art + Design (China), Secret Behavior and ELLE.  Among his many books are An Island in the Moon (Ampersand Editions, 2015 ) and Remaining Light (Silas Finch, 2016). Photographs from Death Valley were featured in a solo exhibition at Mama Gallery (Los Angeles) and will be the focus of a solo show at Ampersand in spring, 2017.
